Day Eighteen Consecration to Mary for the 21st Century/A Lenten Journey

Day Eighteen Consecration to Mary for the 21st Century/A Lenten Journey

                                                                        Day Eighteen

Tuesday of the Third Week of Lent

Prayers for this week, Days17 - 22 in Lent:

Begin each day with "Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you."

First Meditation

Look at this picture, especially the heart.  What do you think it symbolizes?

Second Meditation

Here is the story behind the picture in the first meditation.  This is a picture of the statue of our  Lady of Fatima.  Fatima is in Portugal.  The Blessed Virgin appeared to three shepherd children.  For more detail, google Apparitions in Fatima, yourself.  Essentially, Our Lady taught the children some prayers, particulary the Rosary.  She gave them some messages and encouragement.  The children were interrogated and even jailed.  What I think is cute is that the children, while incarcerated, taught and prayed the Rosary with their fellow inmates.  As usual, people flocked to the site of the apparition.  In one of Our Lady's apparitions, she told the children that
she would give the world a sign, so that the world would believe.  She did.  At the appointed time, she made the sun dance.  Again, google for more detail.
Our Lady's heart tells of her Son.  Surprised?  You shouldn't be.  Mary leads you to Jesus.  Her heart is surrounded by His Crown of Thorns and on fire for love.  This is the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to which we are making this very Consecration during Lent.

Third Meditation

Pray this prayer, which Our Lady of Fatima asked to be prayed between each decade of the Rosary.
Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of Your mercy.   Amen

End the day by praying, "Mary conceived without sin, pray for me."

End your day with an examination of conscience--even in bed.
Mother of God, pray for me.
What good did I do today?
Where did I fail?
How can I do better?
